Alloy Grade UNS: HW – Excellent Carburization Resistance

  • Overview

HW is a nickel-based alloy specifically formulated for high-temperature applications where carburization resistance is paramount. While not as strong as HT, its high nickel content provides exceptional resistance to carburization, preventing the absorption of carbon and subsequent embrittlement in carbon-rich atmospheres. This makes HW particularly well-suited for environments where components are exposed to high temperatures and carbon-containing gases. With a service limit of 980 degrees Celsius (1800 degrees Fahrenheit), HW maintains its integrity and resists degradation even under prolonged exposure to heat and carburizing conditions. This combination of high-temperature resistance and excellent carburization resistance makes HW a valuable choice for specialized applications in industries where these properties are critical.
