Blog Rest in Peace, Bob Smickley

I am deeply saddened to inform you of former MetalTek CEO Bob Smickley’s passing. Bob passed peacefully this morning at his home in Grand Rapids, MI. He was just 72 years old. 

Bob started with Wisconsin Centrifugal in August 1984 to lead technical development of investment shell centrifugal casting.  When Southern Centrifugal purchased Wisconsin Centrifugal, Bob quickly took on various leadership roles and became Southern – Wisconsin Centrifugal CEO in 1992. 

Bob led the creation and growth of MetalTek, shepherding us to be the company we are today. He retired as MetalTek CEO in 2019 after 35 years of dedicated service to the company. Bob remained on the MetalTek Board of Directors, providing close counsel as we continue our journey.

Bob always beamed with delight when talking about the people of MetalTek. He was the driving force behind many initiatives focused on improving the lives of employees. We continue to be shaped by his legacy of faith, love, and gratitude.
